Gilbert Afugu Roy Ayariga has spent the last 40 years in the field of international development and consulting. He has travelled extensively and received professional development and training from Canada, England, Netherlands, Senegal, Gabon, Gambia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Ghana. Starting his career as Regional Director of Agriculture/Project Coordinator of MoFA/IFAD funded project LACOSREP II was implemented from 2000 to June 2006, he rose through the rank to become the National Programme Coordinator with Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana in 2014. He has successfully worked on and managed massive projects funded by donors such as Government of Ghana, IFAD, Sasakawa Global 200 Project, IFCAT, AfDB and MoFA.
Currently, Roy is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of private company – Green Planet Farms and Consulting Services. The Farms component produces certified seed of Soybean, Sorghum, Rice and Maize in the rainy season and various fruits and vegetables in the dry season under irrigation. While the consulting aspect focuses on irrigation development and water users association, value chains development, climate change awareness and mitigation measures, monitoring and evaluation of projects, supervision of ongoing projects and design or preparation of new Projects (especially for donor funding).
Academically, he holds an MSc. Land and Water Management (Irrigation Water Management Option) from Cranfield University, Silsoe College, Bedford, England and BSc. (Hons) Agriculture from University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.
